How to Watch Your Own M3U or Xtream Playlist on LG and Samsung TVs

Last updated: 24 September 2026

Does an LG or Samsung TV play M3U playlists on its own?

No. Neither webOS (LG) nor Tizen (Samsung) has a built-in way to open an M3U playlist URL or an Xtream Codes login. Both platforms play video fine — they just have no native concept of a playlist that points at a provider you supply yourself. To watch one, the television needs an app built specifically to read it.

What that app actually needs to do

Three things: accept your playlist URL or Xtream server details, turn the result into a normal channel guide and on-demand library, and play the streams it finds — direct from your provider to the TV, with nothing routed through a third party in between. That last part matters more than it sounds: a stream that goes through someone else's server is a stream someone else can see, log or fail to keep running.

Why TV age keeps ruling out otherwise-good apps

Most current IPTV player apps target webOS 4.0 or newer, which leaves every LG set from before roughly 2018 unsupported no matter how good the app is. Novaro is built to run on webOS 3.0 and newer — back to 2016 sets — and the same app on Samsung Tizen, because the television being seven years old isn't a reason to lose the player you paid for a provider account to use.

Where Novaro's LG and Samsung apps stand right now

In testing, on real hardware — not yet published to the LG Content Store or Samsung's app store. That means there is no store link to give you today, and we would rather say that plainly than post one that goes nowhere. The apps page carries the current status for every platform as it changes.

Pairing a TV once the app is installed

The flow is built to avoid typing a password on a remote: open Novaro on the television, choose sign in, and either scan the code it shows or enter it at www.novaroplayer.com/link from your phone. The TV signs in and pulls your source's listing itself from there.
